Mackenzie Porter
Women's Training Coach
Mackenzie Porter brings elite goalkeeping experience, academic excellence, and a passion for player development to every training environment. A standout goalie at Hendrick Hudson High School (NY), she was a two-time US Lacrosse All-American and one of the most decorated players in her section. Mackenzie's Background
In addition to her on-field success, Mackenzie distinguished herself academically throughout her college career. She earned All-GLVC Academic Honors from 2021–2024, was named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, and received the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award. Her commitment to excellence culminated in being recognized as MWSU Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Year in both 2023 and 2024, reflecting her ability to balance high-level competition, leadership, and academic discipline.
Mackenzie’s transition from player to coach was fueled by a deep desire to continue sharing her love for the game and to help grow the sport of lacrosse. While she did not initially plan to pursue collegiate coaching after graduation, through prayer and trust she felt the Lord consistently opening doors and making it clear this was the path she was meant to walk. Coaching became a calling rather than a plan, and she stepped into it with faith and purpose.
Coaching Philosophy
And Working With Players
Her coaching philosophy extends far beyond fundamentals. At the core of her approach is the belief that an athlete’s identity is not defined by the sport they play. Having personally experienced the pressure of performance-based identity, Mackenzie now helps athletes understand that their worth is rooted in Christ, not results. This foundation allows goalies to compete freely, confidently, and with greater joy, while still pursuing excellence at a high level.
Within Team Tendy, Mackenzie specifically coaches female goalies across all age groups. Her coaching style emphasizes confidence, controlled aggression, and strong decision-making. Goalies are encouraged to take chances, play boldly outside of the crease, and develop a commanding presence while mastering the fundamentals between the pipes. She places a strong emphasis on helping goalies understand the game as a whole so they can lead their defense and influence the flow of play.
For goalies aspiring to play at the collegiate level, Mackenzie focuses on developing versatile, well-rounded skill sets while reinforcing healthy identity and leadership. By learning the game holistically—not just their position—goalies are equipped to stand out, communicate effectively, and lead with confidence and clarity.
